Altoona, PA (WJAC) — The Altoona Curve began its 25th season Thursday against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
The team’s general manager says the fan support is what has allowed the team to make it this long.
He says former players will be coming back throughout the year to celebrate the milestone season, starting with Brad Eldred for opening night.
The GM also noted that work has been done to the left field party deck and, later in the year, different inflatables will be added to the kids’ zone, as well as several upgrades to facilities for players.
Team representatives say they’re ready to get this milestone year started.
“We’re the smallest AA market in all of baseball, so to have the fan support we’ve had and to make it 25 years and keep going forward, we’re really excited about that.”
Unfortunately, the Curve lost the season opener by a final of 8-2.
Altoona will continue its season opening series against New Hampshire on Friday night.
